Prices of section steel in major markets witnessed the upward trend this month due to higher ex-works prices of steel mills. For example, Laiwu Steel increased list prices twice this month, and the total mark-up was RMB170/t(VAT included). However, the sales performance for most domestic traders was unsatisfying as demand from end industries kept insufficient. And in some markets, prices of angle steel, channel steel and I-beam steel remained unchanged this month. While, according to the experience in former years, the market performance is expected to get better in March, the traditional peak season for the steel market. Therefore, insiders believe prices will continue to go up next month.
