BEIJING (Asian Metal) 25 Sep 12 – According to sources, mainstream price of lithium hydroxide keeps at about RMB42-44/kg (USD6.62-6.94/kg) and some deals are made at around RMB45/kg (USD7.10/kg). Sources reported that the situation of tight supply is eased, and most participants think that lithium products prices will keep stable in the short run, so consumers are not in a hurry to make procurement. At the same time, since lithium concentrates price is firm, it is generally believed that lithium hydroxide price will be firm in the coming few days.
A producer in Sichuan, with a monthly output of about 250t, reported to Asian Metal that their price of lithium hydroxide is RMB44/kg (USD6.94/kg) and some deals are made at RMB45/kg (USD7.10/kg), unchanged compared with that of last week. “Supply is not so tight this month. Because most consumers buy in large quantities of raw materials when lithium price is rising, they do not pile high stock when lithium price is steady,” analyzed the source.
Commenting on the future market, the source thinks that lithium hydroxide price will probably keep steady in the coming few days because of firm spodumene price.
Another producer in Sichuan confirms that most of their deals of lithium hydroxide are made at about RMB44-44.5/kg (USD6.94-7.02/kg). According to the source, whose output of lithium hydroxide is 300tpm, expressed that their supply cannot meet the demand in the past several months, while the market supply is not so tight right now.
