    China raises tariffs on US imports from 34% to 84%

    China will raise additional tariffs on all US goods to 84% from 34%, starting at 12:01 am on April 10, in order to counter the US' unilateral tariff hikes, according to the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council.

    China's latest countermeasures followed the US President Donald Trump's decision to increase the "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese goods to 84%, up from 34%. The US tariff hike poses a substantial challenge to the rules-based multilateral trading system.
