1. Market Highlights
Prices of tungsten products rose slightly in the Chinese market in January driven by the increase of raw material prices caused by the fact that tungsten concentrate suppliers held back from selling and some of them even slightly raised their prices considering low operating rates of mines before the Spring Festival. With the approaching of the Spring Festival holiday, the domestic tungsten products market saw strong wait-and-see sentiments and buyers still conducted purchases based on rigid demand . Furthermore, most domestic APT producers suspended production at the year-end for equipment maintenance, holding limited stocks for both APT and raw materials . As for the international tungsten products market, the spot supply was inadequate during January resulting from overall tight supply for raw materials; however, demand for tungsten products stayed sluggish in European, American, Japanese and South Korean markets with prices stable amid stalemates.
