China's crude stainless steel output up 7.54% YoY in 2024

China produced about 39.44 million tonnes of crude stainless steel in 2024, an increase of 2.77 million tonnes or 7.54% from the previous year, according to Stainless Steel Council of China Iron and Steel Association.
The annual production includes 20.29 million tonnes of Cr-Ni stainless steel (300 series), up by 1.77 million tonnes or 9.57% YoY, with the proportion rising to 51.45%, 7.17 million tonnes of Cr stainless steel (400 series), up by 695,100 tonnes or 10.73% YoY, with the proportion up to 18.19%, 11.56 million tonnes of Cr-Mn stainless steel (200 series), up by 279,700 tonnes or 2.48% YoY, with the proportion down to 29.32%, and 411,693 tonnes of duplex stainless steel, up by 18,312 tonnes of 4.66% YoY, with the proportion at 1.04%.
During the year, China's apparent consumption of stainless steel increased by 1.14 million tonnes or 4.54% YoY to 32.49 million tonnes.
