Chinalco launches 400ktpa aluminum alloy project in Yunnan

On December 26, Chinalco (Yunnan) Green Advanced Aluminum Base Materials Co., Ltd. launched the 400,000tpa aluminum alloy slab ingot project in Zhaotong, Yunnan, and the inauguration of Chinalco Green Materials (Zhaotong) Co., Ltd. was held at the same time.
The project will use molten aluminum supplied by Yunlv Haixin Aluminum as the raw material to produce 5000 and 6000 series aluminum alloy large slab ingot, with maximum weight of about 40t. When fully operational, the project would achieve an annual total output value of RMB8 billion (USD1.1 billion), along with tax contribution of RMB38 million (USD5.21 million), and is expected to create around 200 jobs.
Yunlv Haixin Aluminum has a production capacity of 700,000tpa of liquid aluminum, which is expected to be fully consumed locally in Zhaotong by 2025, with more than 90% used for aluminum alloy production, and the annual output value from the city's green aluminum materials industry would exceed RMB20 billion (USD2.74 billion) by then.
