Inner Mongolia achieved major progress in the exploration for strategic minerals during the 14th five-year plan period (2021-2025), with newly discovered resources to date including 400 million tonnes of iron ore, 140 tonnes of gold, 700,000 tonnes of lithium, 50,000 tonnes of molybdenum, 60,000 tonnes of tin, 17 million tonnes of crystalline graphite, and 8 million tonnes of fluorspar
The regional government is currently promoting the transfer of 160 mining claims, including 108 exploration rights and 52 mining rights. By the kinds of minerals, there are 62 for coal, 45 for non-metallic minerals, 18 for non-ferrous metal, 16 for precious metal, 2 for ferrous metal, 8 for geothermal hot springs and 9 for sandstone and soil.
