Zijin Mining to develop Juno copper mine in Tibet

Zijin Mining has received board approval to launch the mining and dressing project at Juno copper mine in Tibet, for a total planned investment of around RMB8.39 billion (USD1.18 billion).
The project will adopt open-pit mining method, with a mining and dressing capacity of 18 million tonnes per annum, and the main mineral products include copper concentrate (containing silver) and molybdenum concentrate, the company said in an announcement.
With a service life of 26 years, the project is scheduled to become operational in late June 2026, and when reaching full capacity, it is expected to produce about 76,000 tonnes of copper, 19.7 tonnes of silver and 1,188 tonnes of molybdenum annually on average. So far, Zijin Mining has obtained the mining permit, EIA approval and authority approval, which are necessary for developing the project.
