China issues second batch of rare earth production quotas for 2024

China has granted the second batch of rare earth production quotas for 2024, including 135,000 tonnes for mining and 127,000 tonnes for smelting and separation, both on par with the first batch, according to a circular jointly issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
The first two batches of quotas totaled 270,000 tonnes for mining and 254,000 tonnes for smelting and separation, up by 12.5% and 10 . 4% respectively from the first two batches set for 2023.
