In May 2024, China produced 76.13 million tonnes of pig iron, down by 1.2% YoY, 92.86 million tonnes of crude steel, up by 2.7% YoY, and 122.70 million tonnes of steel products, up by 4.3% YoY, according to the National Bureau of Statistics.
From January to May, the country's production of pig iron declined by 3.7% YoY to 361.13 million tonnes, crude steel production decreased by 1.4% YoY to 438.61 million tonnes, and steel products production increased by 2.9% YoY to 574.05 million tonnes.
