BEIJING (Asian Metal) 1 May 24 - As the raw materials cost like pet coke increased since one month ago, prebaked anode prices move up in China. Present mainstream prices for prebaked anode S 3%max in China stand at RMB3,870-3,970/t (USD535-548/t) EXW, up by around RMB50/t (USD7/t) from one month ago
A Shandong-based prebaked anode S 3%max producer reports that they now maintain the best price of RMB4,040/t (USD558/t) delivered including the freight of RMB85/t (USD12/t) and sold around 10,000t at the price late last month, while the sales price for the same quantity one month ago kept at around RMB3,980/t (USD550/t) delivered. "The major buyer accepts the new price now as the overall cost over the past two months rose by around RMB200/t (USD28/t)," says the source, who anticipates stable prices in the coming week and holds no stock now.
With six roasting furnaces and the total production capacity of 300,000tpy, they produced around 20,000t in April and the volume might remain stable in May. They produced over 80,000t so far this year and around 230,000t in 2023.
A Henan-based prebaked anode S 2.5%max producer confirms that they raised the best sales price by RMB60/t (USD8/t) to around RMB4,100/t (USD566/t) delivered with the freight around RMB50/t (USD7/t) late last month and sold around 4,000t to a regular buyer. "The production cost increased by more than RMB60/t (USD8/t) in the past month, so we raise prices," explains the source, who sold the same volume at around RMB4,040/t (USD558/t) delivered one month ago and anticipates stable prices in the coming week.
The producer, with three roasting furnaces and the production capacity of 120,000tpy, would produce around 7,000t in May, similar to last month with present stocks around 5,000t. They produced around 28,000t so far this year and around 80,000t in total last year.
