Guizhou Wanshan Yinhe increases consumption volume of mercury metal

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 24 Apr 24 - Guizhou Wanshan Yinhe Chemical Co., Ltd, a main consumer of mercury metal 99.9%min in Guizhou, increases their consumption to about 7t in April, a source from the company discloses to Asian Metal.
"Because the purchase price of mercury metal in early April remained good, we expect the price at that time to be lower than that of May. Therefore, we increased our purchase volume in April and stocked up some inventory for May, leading to our MoM increase of mercury metal consumption in April", said the source, adding that they hold a bearish attitude towards the price trend after May Day holiday.
With an annual consumption capacity of 280t, the consumer estimates to consume about 7t this month, up by about 2t MoM. They hold about 3t of stocks now. The consumer consumed approximately 117t in 2023 and expect a reducing volume in 2024.
Today, the mainstream prices of Chinese mercury metal 99.9%min stand at RMB1,170-1,190/kg (USD164.6-167.5/kg) Ex-VAT EXW D/P, in line with late last week. As most of the consumers would finish restocking before May Day holiday, insiders predict that the mainstream prices of Chinese mercury metal would decline then.
