BEIJING (Asian Metal) 23 Apr 24 - Supported by active downstream purchases over the recent week, today mainstream prices for Chinese cerium metal stand firm at RMB24,500-25,000/t (USD3,382-3,451/t) EXW T/T 30 days
A producer in Inner Mongolia revealed that today he continued to quote cerium metal at RMB25,000/t (USD3,451/t) EXW T/T 30 days and considered selling at no lower than RMB24,500/t (USD3,382/t) to regular clients. "Within the recent week I made sales at prices stabilizing at RMB24,500/t (USD3,382/t) . As downstream magnet producers show growing demand for cerium metal, now my production nearly falls short of demand, so I consider lowering concessions I can give to clients," said the producer, believing that there would be certain upward potentials in cerium metal prices in the coming days.
With an annual production capacity of 1,200t of cerium metal, the producer expected an output of around 75t this month, unchanged MoM.
Another producer in Inner Mongolia revealed that today he quoted cerium metal at RMB25,000/t (USD3,451/t) EXW T/T 30 days with no lower prices to be accepted, slightly higher than the selling price of RMB24,500/t (USD3,382/t) last week. "Recently downstream demand keeps growing and my spot supply falls short of demand . Further given slightly rising prices for raw material cerium oxide, I would cling to my current selling price," said the producer, believing that cerium metal prices would edge up in the coming days.
With an annual production capacity of 1,800t of cerium metal, the producer produced about 150t this month and expected a similar output this month.
