BEIJING (Asian Metal) 16 Apr 24 – Most Chinese chrome ore sellers insist on prices supported by high prices from overseas suppliers and low inventories in China. The current mainstream prices of South African chrome concentrate 40%min stand at RMB59-60/dmtu (USD8.14-8.28/dmtu) in Tianjin port, stable from late last week. Insiders predict that the mainstream prices of chrome ore in China would keep firm within this week.
A trader in Tianjin notes that they quoted RMB60/dmtu (USD8.28/dmtu) in Tianjin port for South African chrome concentrate 40%min without any concessions today, stable from late last week. "We did not close any deals in the past week and last sold about 2,000t at RMB60.5/dmtu (USD8.34/dmtu) in late March", says the trader, who would maintain the price stable as they could hard to purchase South African chrome concentrate 40%min at prices less than USD307/t at the moment. They predict that the mainstream prices of chrome ore in China would keep firm within this week.
The trader, with a regular monthly trading volume about 10,000t of chrome ore, would sell about 5,000t in April, stable from last month. They hold about 10,000t of stocks at the moment.
