Lanzhou Xinyongda to resume black silicon carbide production

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 1 Apr 23 - Lanzhou Xinyongda Silicon Carbide Co., Ltd., a Gansu black silicon carbide producer, plans to resume the production of black silicon carbide since early April, expecting to produce about 500t next month.
"Due to the sluggish market demand, we suspended production since early March to control costs. We plan to resume production next week as the downstream buyers start to accept the lifted prices", a source in the company discloses, noting that they expect to produce around 500t in April.
With an annual production capacity of 15,000t, they produced about 5,500t in 2023 and expect to produce about 5,000t given the dim end market. They have an inventory of only 100t for the time being.
The current mainstream prices of black silicon carbide 98%min 0-10mm Fe2O3 3%max free C 2.6%max stand at RMB6,200/t (USD873/t) EXW D/A 180 days in Gansu, without much changes from early this week. As most producers intend to insist the prices, insiders hold the view that the mainstream prices of Chinese black silicon carbide would stay stable this week.
