BEIJING (Asian Metal) 28 Mar 24 - Over the past two weeks, fluorspar prices in China rose further and aluminum fluoride producers raised prices despite thin deals now. Present mainstream prices for aluminum fluoride 61%min in China keep at RMB9,000-9,200/t (USD1,246-1,273/t) EXW, up by RMB200/t (USD28/t) from late last week and producers anticipate higher prices in the coming week.
A Shandong-based aluminum fluoride 61%min producer reported that they now quote RMB10,500/t (USD1,453/t) delivered with the freight at RMB400/t (USD55/t) and decline prices lower than RMB10,200/t (USD1,412/t) delivered, while they sold around 2,000t to a major buyer at around RMB9,000/t (USD1,246/t) delivered early this month. "We suffer losses now, as the best price we received for fluorspar 97%min reached RMB3,500/t (USD484/t) delivered, up by over RMB100/t (USD14/t)," said the source, who predicted that mainstream aluminum fluoride prices would move up in the coming week.
The producer, based on the production capacity of 90,000tpy and four production lines, produced around 2,000t last month and remains out of production this month, with no stock now. They produced around 3,000t so far this year and around 20,000t in 2023.
A producer of aluminum fluoride 61%min in Hunan confirmed that they would like to sell at the price of around RMB10,500/t (USD1,453/t) delivered now and previously sold around 400t to a major buyer at around RMB9,000/t (USD1,246/t) delivered early this month including the freight of around RMB200/t (USD28/t). "I believe the price would rise to much higher than RMB10,000/t (USD1,384/t) delivered late this month, as our overall cost increased by around RMB400/t (USD55/t)," said the source, adding that they suffer losses now.
With four production lines and the total production capacity of 80,000tpy, they might produce 3,000t in March, similar to last month and hold no stock now. They produced around 10,000t so far this year and around 40,000t last year.
