Aluminum fluoride prices in an upward trend in China

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 19 Mar 24 - Supported by the increased sulfuric acid price and improved demand, aluminum fluoride producers raised prices over the past two weeks in China. Present mainstream prices for aluminum fluoride 61%min stand at RMB8,750-8,950/t (USD1,216-1,243/t) EXW, up by RMB50/t (USD7/t) from one week ago and market participants anticipate higher prices in the coming two weeks due to the increased cost.
A Shandong-based aluminum fluoride 61%min producer reported that they now maintain the best offer of RMB8,800/t (USD1,223/t) EXW and predicted that the price would rise by RMB200/t (USD28/t) in the coming two weeks, as the best purchase price they received for sulfuric acid 98%min climbed by RMB100/t (USD14/t) to around RMB180/t (USD25/t) EXW since late last month. "We sold around 2,500t to a major buyer early this month at around RMB8,790/t (USD1,221/t) delivered, including the freight of around RMB40/t (USD6/t)," said the source, who declined a trader who requested over 1,000t one week ago as they do not have enough stock.
The producer, with two production lines and the total production capacity of 55,000tpy, would produce around 4,500t in March and around 4,000t in April. They produced around 45,000t last year and around 10,000t so far this year.
A Henan-based aluminum smelter confirmed that the best price they received for aluminum fluoride 61%min now keeps at around RMB9,000/t (USD1,250/t) delivered with the freight around RMB100/t (USD14/t) and they get ready to accept the price in the coming two weeks. "We plan to buy around 1,000t in the coming two weeks and once ordered around 1,000t at RMB8,800/t (USD1,223/t) delivered one month ago," said the source, who keeps over 200t in stock now.
With the annual consumption capacity of 13,000t, they might use over 800t this month and the volume might reach 900t next month as the aluminum production would increase after the hearing season. They consumed over 12,000t last year and around 2,000t so far this year.
