A producer in Inner Mongolia revealed that he increased cerium metal quotation to about RMB26,000/t (USD3,618/t) EXW T/T 30 days for cerium metal and considered selling at around RMB25,500/t (USD3,549/t) today, while he had intention to sell at around RMB25,300/t (USD/t) one week ago. "I last sold 20t at around RMB25,500/t (USD3,549/t) yesterday," said the producer, who could purchase cerium oxide 99.9%min at around RMB7,600/t (USD1,058/t) EXW D/P at present, while he could buy at around RMB7,500/t (USD1,044/t) one week ago . He faced difficulties in increasing prices further and forecasted that the Chinese cerium metal mainstream prices would hover at current levels in the coming week.
With an annual production capacity of 2,400t of cerium metal, the producer expected an output of around 200t in March, unchanged MoM. He produced approximately 1,850t and 500t respectively in 2023 and so far in 2024 . He holds an inventory of around 50t now, in line with mid-February.
A trader in Inner Mongolia noted that he quoted about RMB25,000/t (USD3,479/t) EXW D/P for cerium metal and had intention to sell at around RMB24,500/t (USD3,410/t) EXW D/P this Monday, while he considered selling at about RMB24,400/t (USD3,396/t) one week ago. He concluded his latest sale late last week, when he sold three tons at around RMB24,500/t (USD3,410/t) . "I plan to hold cerium metal prices steady in the coming week as my clients would delay purchasing if we could increase prices further," said the trader, who predicted that the Chinese cerium metal market would witness further stable prices in the coming week.
The trader, with a regular monthly trading volume of around five tons of cerium metal, sold about 15t so far this year, compared with approximately 60t last year. He expected a sales volume of around five tons this month, without much change MoM . He doesn't have stock at the moment, unchanged MoM.
