SPIC to increase bauxite production in Guinea

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 4 Mar 24 - SPIC (Guinea), a major bauxite producer in Guinea, plans to produce over 300,000t of bauxite in March, up from around 200,000t last month, a source from the company reported to Asian Metal.
"We produced around 200,000t last month and would produce over 300,000t this month," said the source, adding that the fuel supply in Guinea increased.
With the annual production capacity of 8 million tonnes, they produced around 4 million tonnes last year and target around 6 million tonnes this year, with no stocks for sales now.
Current mainstream prices for Guinean bauxite Al2O3 45%min SiO2 3%max keep at USD71.5-73.5/dt CIF China, unmoved from late last week . As the bauxite supply increased, prices face pressure in moving up now.
