China's Liangshan pledges innovation to prop up V-Ti-RE industry

China's Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture aims to increase vanadium, titanium and iron ore concentrate production to 10 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), lift smelting capacity to 6Mtpa, and raise titanium concentrate production to 2Mtpa by 2026, with local conversion rate of rare earth resources above 70% and the total production value of vanadium, titanium and rare earth industries reaching RMB89 billion (USD12.38 billion), according to notice issued by the local government which pledges innovation to prop up the V-Ti-RE industry.
Liangshan will advance the development of key projects including titanium resource low-carbon comprehensive utilization demonstration project developed by Xichang Steel and Vanadium Co., Ltd., 20,000tpa high-end titanium and titanium alloys project developed by Beijing Huateng Aviation Material Technology Co., Ltd., and rare earth mine capacity expansion project and rare earth smelting plant relocation project.
