Sichuan issues plan to peak carbon emission for industrial sector

On October 26, Sichuan issued the implementation plan for peaking carbon dioxide emission in the industrial sector.
The province aims to process more than 15 million tonnes of steel scrap annually by 2025, with the proportion of short-process steelmaking to exceed 40 percent, according to the plan.
In addition, Sichuan will boost the development of nonferrous metal industry by improving its network for recycling, separation and processing of waste metals, further increasing production of nonferrous metals. The province aims to increase the proportion of direct alloying of liquid aluminum to 90 percent by 2025 and achieve breakthrough application of low-carbon technology in nonferrous industry by 2030.
