CPCA: China's passenger car retail sales up by 55.5% YoY in Apr

The latest data released by China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) showed that China's passenger car market witnessed production of about 1.76 million units in April 2023, up by 77.4% YoY while down by 15.7% MoM.
The retail sales of passenger car reached 1.63 million units in April, up by 55.5% YoY and 2.5% MoM. From January to April, the retail sales of passenger car totaled about 5.9 million units, down by 1.3% YoY.
In April, the retail sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) reached 527,000 units, up by 85.6% YoY while down by 3.6% MoM. The year-to-date retail sales totaled about 1.84 million units, up by 36% YoY.
In April, the export of passenger car (including full vehicle and CKD) recorded 300,000 units, up by 227% YoY and 3% MoM. In the first four months of this year, the export of passenger car totaled 1.08 million units, up by 115% YoY. The export of NEVs in April accounted for 30% of the total auto exports.
