China Northern Rare Earth granted over 60% of 2023 first-batch rare earth mining and smelting quotas

Recently, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) jointly publicized 2023 first-batch national total quotas on rare earth mining and smelting/separation. The 2023 first-batch rare earth mining quota and smelting/separation quota is 120,000t and 115,000t respectively. In particular, China Northern Rare Earth (Group) Hightech Co., Ltd. is granted a rock ore rare earth mining quota of 80,943t, accounting for 67.45% of the overall mining quota and up by 34.43% from the first-batch mining quota in 2022; and it is granted a smelting/separation quota of 73,403t, accounting for 63.83% of the overall quota and up by 36.49% from the first-batch smelting/separation quota in 2022. The company ranked the first in the Chinese rare earth industry with its two quotas over 60% of the overall quotas in 2023.
