Sichuan publicizes Implementation Plan on Achieving Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Energy Industry

On January 11, Sichuan provincial government publicized Sichuan Implementation Plan on Achieving Carbon Dioxide Emissions in Energy Industry. According to the Implementation Plan, by 2025 a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system will be built in place in this province with installed water, wind and solar power generation capacities to reach over 138GW in total and installed clean energy power generation capacity to account for around 89% of the provincial total capacity.
Sichuan emphasized on reasonable controlling on coal consumption, planning to guide categorized reform on power generation facilities with coal consumption over 300k standard coal/KWH and to strictly control coal consumption volumes of steelmaking, construction materials, non-ferrous metal industries. Sichuan government aims to achieve coal consumption of no more than 70 million tons and 65 million tons respectively by 2025 and by 2030.
