    1. Market Highlights

Prices of Chinese HC ferrochrome, LC ferrochrome and silicochromium all trended up in May supported by higher raw material prices and tight supply.

In May, South African and Turkish chrome ore sellers held prices firm with high purchasing cost even though downstream customers only purchased on orders, so the in port China prices of South African and Turkish chrome ore edged up. As for CIF China prices, those of South African chrome ore were firm with miners keeping firm prices, while those of Turkish chrome ore went soft as sellers cut prices seeing limited deals.

Chinese chromic salt sellers held prices firm in May supported by higher raw material prices and tight supply, so the prices of chromic salt increased a little. Chrome metal prices in Chinese market and export market both went up with sellers lifting prices under cost pressure.
