On 20 April, Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), Ministry of Emergency Management and Heilongjiang Provincial Government initiated a joint investigation on March 28 Yichun Luming Mining's tailing pond leakage secondary abrupt environmental event
On 28 March, No.4 overflow well of Yichun Luming Mining's molybdenum tailings pond tilted and resulted in increasing water flow with tailings, so the water environment was polluted . After 14-day emergency treatment on the site, the sewage flowed to the downstream of Hulan River on 11 April and the water quality reached standards completely at about 70km away from Songhua River, achieving the emergency treatment target of preventing unqualified sewage from entering Songhua River . By now, the whole Hulan River is clear again.
