Yiyang Hongyuan Rare Earth gets approval on renovation project EIA report

On 5 August, Ecology and Environment Department of Hunan made an approval decision on Yiyang Hongyuan Rare Earth Co., Ltd.'s overall relocation and upgrading renovation project EIA report and sought public opinions about this decision.
Yiyang Hongyuan Rare Earth Co., Ltd. plans to invest RMB765 million (USD109 million) in relocating its current plant in Jiaoyu Village, Wuyi East Road, Ziyang District, Yiyang to New Materials Industrial Park of Changchun Economic Development Zone and constructing a production line and supporting facilities to produce rare earth oxides, rare earth metals and rare earth new material products with purchased mixed rare earth chloride. The project will cover an area of 195,152m2 (293mu) and the construction area will totally cover 185,150 m2. After completion, the project will separate 3,500 tons of mixed rare earth chloride per annum (calculated based on REO), deeply process 2,000 tons of rare earth carbonate per annum (calculated based on REO) and deeply process 600 tons of rare earth metals per annum.
