1. Market Highlights
Prices for section steel increased obviously in major Chinese domestic markets during the week following price hikes of raw materials such as iron ore and steel billet. However, as the downstream demand shrank further influenced by the hot and rainy weather, the sales performance failed to improve. Reporting limited sales volumes but high purchasing costs, traders were inactive in replenishing inventories, and the overall market stockpile ran on a low level. In the meantime, prices for section steel decreased slightly in other Asian markets during the month. Considering the market performance remains unsatisfactory, insiders think that the price for section steel might fall back slightly in August.
