1. Market Highlights
Prices for section steel went down nationwide during the month dragged by continuous price decline of steel billet as well as the slow market. Both traders and customers were not so confident of the market outlook seeing the absence of positive news. End users were inactive in placing large orders and only purchased according to urgent needs influenced by the downward price trend, for fear of another price decrease. Reporting unsatisfactory sales performance, traders refused to build large inventories as they did in the corresponding periods of past years, with wait-and-see attitudes. Considering there are few working days in February influenced by the Lunar New Year holiday (February 15-21), insiders do not think the price for section steel could change much.
