Shanshan Corporation intends to spend RMB3.8b building lithium battery cathode integrated base

Shanshan Corporation Co., Ltd. made an announcement on the evening of August 15th that its subsidiary company Ningbo Shanshan New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. intends to enter into an investment cooperative agreement with Baotou municipal government to spend about RMB3.8b building a 100,000tpy lithium-ion battery cathode integrated base, which will produce the finished products from raw materials.
According to the announcement, Ningbo Shanshan New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. will set up a wholly-owned company named Inner Mongolia Shanshan Technology Co., Ltd. in Baotou Equipment Manufacturing Industry Park with the initial registered capital at RMB500m. The total investment of the project is RMB3.807b, of which the investment of fixed assets is RMB2.163b and the investment of current assets is RMB1.643b. The new company, as a 100,000tpy lithium-ion battery cathode material integrated base, will be built in two phases and the first phase is scheduled to start in this October and complete in June 2019.
The integrated base is equipped with cathode material production lines which can deal with raw material processing, graphitization, carbonization and finished product processing, and mainly produces low-cost power battery and energy storage battery cathode material products in large scale. The low-priced electricity in Inner Mongolia will effectively lessen the production cost and improve both the gross margin and core competitiveness.
