A major bismuth ingot trader in China told Asian Metal that the purchasing price for bismuth ingot increased to RMB154,500-155,000/t (USD11.42-11.46/lb) last week. Some suppliers quote the material at RMB156,000-157,000/t (USD11 . 53-11.60/lb) currently and some suppliers hold back from selling materials without making offers . They sold one container of bismuth ingot at USD11.6/lb CIF Europe on last Friday and raise offer to USD11.8/lb CIF Europe now following the domestic price rise.
The source noted that there is still a deficit of physical material on the spot market. They received more inquiries for bismuth ingot from overseas market recently, but they did not accept many orders as they had some long-term orders to work on and have few stocks in hand.
A trader in South China, with a regular trading volume of around 20tpm, reported that they purchased some bismuth ingot at RMB155,000/t (USD11.46/lb) last week, a further rise of RMB1,000/t (USD0.074/lb) against that of the previous week. The mainstream offers they receive now are around RMB156,000/t (USD11.53/lb) and some offers are even a bit higher . The source noted that the demand from downstream industries saw no big improvements recently and it was mainly the stockpiling in some exchanges that pushed the prices up continuously.
“After the price for bismuth ingot reaching over RMB150,000/t (USD11.09/lb), we do not dare to stock many materials as we think that it is risky, all in all, the real demand sees no signal to increase sharply,” said the source . “We incline to purchase bismuth ingot on orders now . ”
