BEIJING (Asian Metal) 12 Aug 14 - Chinese bismuth ingot export market was quiet recently due to the summer vacation in overseas markets
A major bismuth ingot exporter in China, reported that they are negotiating with suppliers now and will purchase around 40t of bismuth ingot at RMB154,000/t (USD11.38/lb) this week, up by RMB500/t (USD0.037/lb) against their purchasing price of RMB153,500/t (USD11.34/lb) in last week . In the export spot market, they raise offers by USD0.1/lb further to USD11.5/lb FOB China now.
According to the source, they in total received orders of around 200t of bismuth ingot at USD11.0/lb FOB China in the first half of July and raised offers gradually recently following the sharp price rise in the domestic market . The source noted that Chinese bismuth ingot export market will see more orders in the near future after the summer vacation in overseas market and the prices are likely to increase further due to the tightening availability of material.
A bismuth ingot supplier in China, with an output of around 30tpm, told Asian Metal that they sealed a few deals of bismuth ingot at USD11.3/lb CIF Europe early last week and raised offers to USD11.5/lb FOB China late last week, with no deals being concluded . The source thinks that overseas buyers will accept the price gradually and Chinese bismuth ingot prices will rise further in the near future as a reaction to the tight supply on the spot market.
In domestic market, the source claimed that they sold some bismuth ingot at RMB154,000/t (USD11.38/lb) last week and quote it at RMB155,000/t (USD11.46/lb) now . They have few stocks in hand and are in no hurry in selling materials .
