BEIJING (Asian Metal) 1 Aug 14 - Chinese bismuth ingot prices moved up further to RMB150,500-152,000/t (USD11
A major bismuth ingot trader in China claimed that the mainstream purchasing prices for bismuth ingot were RMB152,000/t (USD11.14/lb) from plants late this week, up by RMB500/t (USD0.036/lb) further against those of early this week, and some plants held offers at RMB153,000/t (USD11.21/lb). They are mainly working on some long-term orders as a reaction to the difficulty in replacement and quote the material at RMB154,000/t (USD11.29/lb) for inquiries on the spot market.
The source noted that due to the tight supply and the potential increase in demand from overseas market after the summer vacation, Chinese bismuth ingot prices will increase further in the near future. They now quote bismuth ingot at around USD11 . 1-11.2/lb CIF Europe.
A bismuth oxide producer in China, with a regular consumption of around 70tpm for bismuth ingot, claimed that they mainly rely on long-term orders to satisfy their demand for bismuth ingot and it is hard to purchase the materials on the spot market. Their purchasing prices for bismuth ingot based on long-term orders are RMB150,000-151,000/t (USD11-11.07/lb) now, while the offers on the spot market are around RMB152,000/t (USD11.14/lb).
