BEIJING (Asian Metal) 11 Jul 14 - Chinese bismuth ingot price increase continuously this week and most suppliers are holding back from selling materials. The mainstream prices for bismuth ingot reached RMB146,000-147,000/t (USD10
One of the major bismuth ingot suppliers in China reported that they seldom sold bismuth ingot on the spot market recently and only sold a few materials to some regular customers to keep long-term relationship. The prices are RMB146,000-147,000/t (USD10 . 7-10.77/lb) this week, up further against the RMB144,000-145,000/t (USD10 . 55-10.63/lb) of last week . In the export market, the source claimed that they raise offers for bismuth ingot from USD10.4/lb CIF Europe to USD10.6/lb CIF Europe recently following the domestic price rise, but no deals were concluded as most of the market participants entered the summer vacation.
“Chinese domestic bismuth ingot prices are moving up. The export market will recover in late August after the summer vacation and the prices are likely to increase obviously at the time . We do not intend to sell bismuth ingot in large quantities now,” said the source.
A supplier in China, with an output of around 120tpm of bismuth ingot, told Asian Metal that they sold some bismuth ingot at RMB146,000-14,7000/t (USD10.7-10.77/lb) on Thursday, depending on different quantities, which increased further by RMB500/t (USD0.036/lb) against the prices of the previous day . The source noted that they received many inquiries for bismuth ingot recently and they have few stocks in hand now.
Looking ahead, the source thinks that the unrelenting pressure still being caused by the meagre amounts of material will push the bismuth ingot prices up further in the near future .
