Chinese bismuth ingot suppliers keep offers firm

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 21 Jan 14 - Chinese bismuth ingot prices have increased fast in the past two weeks with the mainstream prices getting higher from RMB121,000-122,500/t (USD9.09-9.20/lb) at the beginning of January to RMB124,500-126,000/t (USD9.35-9.46/lb) late last week. Chinese bismuth ingot suppliers are holding back from selling materials now. Some suppliers keep offers firm at RMB125,000-126,000/t (USD9.39-9.46/lb) and some raise offers slightly further.
A bismuth oxide producer in China, with a regular consumption of 70tpm for bismuth ingot, reported that Chinese bismuth ingot prices have increased fast in the recent two weeks. They purchased some bismuth ingot at RMB125,000/t (USD9.39/lb) last week, which increased by RMB5,000/t (USD0.37/lb) against the RMB120,000/t (USD9.01/lb) in late December. Some bismuth ingot suppliers raise offers further to RMB126,000/t (USD9.46/lb) now.
The source claimed that the bismuth oxide market sees no improvement while the prices increase to RMB126,000-127,000/t (USD9.46-9.54/lb) now following the bismuth ingot price rise. The source noted that the stockpile in Fanya Exchange is the main reason to drive the bismuth ingot prices up.
A major bismuth ingot supplier in China reported that they are mainly delivering materials on regular orders and do not intend to sell many materials on the spot market as the prices are moving up and the supply is tight on the spot market. They have sealed some deals for bismuth ingot at USD9.4-9.5/lb FOB China in the recent several days, which increased sharply against the USD9.20/lb FOB China in early January.
