Aluminum scrap price stands still in Chinese market

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 20 Dec 13 - Aluminum ingot price keeps dropping, while aluminum scrap price did not see obvious changes this month due to insufficient supply in Chinese market. Meanwhile, a few aluminum scrap consumers stocked up, because they did not have much cash.
“Aluminum ingot keeps going down, but aluminum scrap price is hard to follow, because the supply is limited. The clients did not increase purchase either, so the price was stable,” said a Guangdong-based supplier. They offer RMB12,200/t (USD2,006/t) for imported clear 6063 extrusion, and RMB12,300/t (USD2,022/t) for tense pieces.
The sales volume of this supplier kept 700-800 tons each month.
“Our clients showed no intention to increase purchase at present. It is not easy to get the material with good quality either. The price almost went smoothly this month,” said a Zhejiang-based supplier. “We sold some taint pieces with good quality at the price of RMB12,000/t (USD1,973/t),” added him.
“We did not want to hold much of this material in the year end, because our customers will take rest since the next month,” the source said. They just have several tons of this material in hand at present.
