Chinese bismuth ingot prices rise further

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 17 Dec 13 – Chinese bismuth ingot prices keep moving up this week
A major bismuth ingot trader in China reported that they purchased some bismuth ingot at RMB120,300/t (USD9.0/lb) late last week, which increased by RMB2,000/t (USD0.15/lb) against that of the previous week, and sold some materials at RMB121,000-121,500/t (USD9 . 06-9.10/lb) in the spot market.
The source noted that it is hard to purchase bismuth ingot in large quantities in the spot market. If the stocks in the exchanges keep increasing and the supply in the spot market remains tight, Chinese bismuth ingot prices will increase further in the near future.
A bismuth ingot producer in China, with an output of around 50tpm, told Asian Metal that they signed orders for bismuth ingot at RMB118,000/t (USD8.83/lb) in early December with some regular customers and the materials are reserved until late December. The source claimed that the offers for bismuth ingot are around RMB119,000-120,000/t (USD8 . 91-8.98/lb) in the spot market now.
“We cannot supply materials to the spot market until late December and will adjust price for new orders at the time. If the supply in the spot market remains tight, the bismuth ingot prices are likely to keeps the up-moving trend in the near future,” said the source .
. The stocks of bismuth ingot have reached 4,866 . 45t until last Friday, which increased by 160t compared with that of the same period of the previous week. The supply for bismuth ingot in the spot market is a bit tight and the mainstream prices for bismuth ingot increase by around RMB1,000/t (USD0.07/lb) to RMB119,000-121,000/t (USD8 . 91-9.06/lb) now.
