Chinese bismuth ingot export price increases slightly

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Dec 13 – Chinese bismuth ingot supply was tight recently and the prices increased from RMB116,000-118,000/t (USD8.65-8.80/lb) to RMB118,000-120,000/t (USD8.80-8.95/lb). The RMB appreciated further against US dollars recently. Chinese bismuth ingot export price rises slightly to USD8.8-8.95/lb this week.
A major bismuth ingot supplier in China, reported that Chinese domestic bismuth ingot supply was tight recently and they mainly purchased materials and seldom sold materials in the spot market. They are mainly working on the long-term orders now.
They purchased a batch of bismuth ingot at RMB118,000/t (USD8.80/lb) early this week and sold a few materials at RMB120,000/t (USD8.95/lb) to their regular customers. In the export market, the source claimed that the prices for bismuth ingot are around USD8.9/lb now, up slightly against the USD8.7-8.8/lb in late November.
A major bismuth trader in China told Asian Metal that the purchasing prices for bismuth ingot were around USD8.6-8.8/lb in November. Currently, it is hard to purchase the materials at RMB8.8/lb. Most overseas buyers have finished the procurement for 2013 and the inquiries in the market are for next year. As the Christmas and New Year holidays are approaching, Chinese bismuth ingot export market will be quiet in the following two weeks.
The source noted that due to the increasing stocks of bismuth ingot in Fanya Exchange, the supply for bismuth ingot in the spot market is tight now. Except those long-term orders, it is hard to purchase bismuth ingot in large quantities in the spot market now.
