Chinese bismuth ingot prices rise slightly on increasing purchasing activities

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 13 Sep 13 – Chinese bismuth ingot prices rebounded sharply in August and retreated slightly in early September. The domestic and overseas markets are usually active in September and the markets saw more purchasing activities recently. Therefore, Chinese bismuth ingot prices are generally stable this week and some transaction prices even recover slightly by around RMB1,000/t (USD0.07/lb). The prices for bismuth ingot are around RMB107,000-109,000/t (USD7.95-8.10/lb) currently.
A bismuth ingot producer in China, with a regular output of around 70tpm for bismuth ingot, reported that they sold large quantities of bismuth ingot at RMB111,000/t (USD8.24/lb) in late August. The bismuth prices began to retreat into September and the market prices for bismuth ingot dropped to RMB106,000-107,000/t (USD7.87-7.95/lb). However, the source noted that as the purchasing activities from both domestic and overseas markets increase, Chinese bismuth ingot prices turn stable and even rise again this week. The mainstream prices for bismuth ingot are RMB107,000-109,000/t (USD7.95-8.09/lb) currently.
The source added that they stop selling materials this week, thinking that the prices will re-increase to RMB110,000/t (USD8.17/lb) soon as the demand usually increases in September.
A bismuth oxide producer, with a regular consumption of around 65tpm for bismuth ingot, told Asian Metal that the price for bismuth ingot retreated a bit to RMB105,000-106,000/t (USD7.80-7.87/lb) at the beginning of September, while the prices increase again to RMB107,000-108,000/t (USD7.95-8.02/lb) this week.
They are working on orders for bismuth oxide signed at RMB108,000/t (USD8.02/lb) in early September and intend to raise the offers a bit following the bismuth ingot price rise. The source claimed that the orders for bismuth oxide from downstream market are stable and the bismuth ingot prices are on the rise. They intend to buy some bismuth ingot in the following days.
