Shandong ports see more bauxite arriving

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 9 Aug 13 - In August, more and more bauxite arrives in Shandong province and many ports even cannot bear the high-held stocks. However, because of the Eid holiday in Indonesia this month, it is predicted that the bauxite import may calm down next month.
A source from Qingdao Port revealed that they now have around 920,000t of bauxite stocks in the port. Next week they will have three vessels of bauxite arrived. However, due to limited spaces, they have to quit one vessel with 60,000t of Australia bauxite.
The other two vessels loading 200,000t of Indonesia bauxite for each may arrive on August 14-16.
Another source from Yantai Port confirmed that there are so many vessels arrived this month that they have to take part vessels to other ports. “We may have 2 million tons bauxite arrived this month,” said the source.
A bauxite importer from Shandong confirmed that the stocks are high in ports. “We will have 890,000t of bauxite arrived this month,” said the source, adding that two large vessels of Indonesia with around 180,000t for each will stop in Qingdao and part ships will arrive at Lianyungang.
The Al and Si content for Indonesia bauxite is 48% and 9-11% respectively, noted the source.
Asian Metal learnt that the price for this kind of bauxite is around USD40-41/t FOB Indonesia.
