Asian Metal visits Xiangjiang Wanji Aluminum and Wanji Holdings

On the morning of March 22, Mr. Friday Gao, Consultant from Asian Metal visited Henan Xiangjiang Wanji Aluminum, a major alumina refinery in Henan with annual capacity of 1.4 million tonnes.
Mr. Gao talked about Chinese origin bauxite and alumina markets with Mr. Sun Benke, Executive General Manager and Mr. Fu Hao, sales manager. Due to strict environmental protection in China, local bauxite supply becomes tight and the refinery has demand for imported monohydrate bauxite.
In the afternoon, Mr. Gao visited Henan Wanji Holdings Co., Ltd., a major aluminum smelter with annual capacity of 650,000t.
Mr. Gao met with Mr. Xu Wenchao, Vice General Manager and Mr. Li Songtao, Vice Purchase Director of the company. In terms of the current low aluminum ingot prices, Mr. Xu noted that most aluminum smelters suffer losses now. However, he pointed out that Chinese demand for aluminum is growing steadily.
