Asian Metal visits Henan Wandu Carbon, Jin Ju Industrial, Zhongkai Carbon, Songyue Carbon and some other companies

From 22 February to 24 February, Helen Li, carbon market analyst of Asian Metal, successively visited JiaoZuo WanFang Aluminum Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Jiaozuo Wandu Carbon Co., Ltd., Jiaozuo Yingli Economic & Trade Co., Ltd., CHINALO Henan Carbon Co., Ltd., Jin Ju Industrial Co., Ltd. Henan, Henan Zhongkai Carbon Co., Ltd., Gongyi Rongxin Carbon Products Co., Ltd., Gongyi Kaiyuan Conductive Material Co., Ltd., Henan Songyue Carbon Co., Ltd. and exchanged opinions with officials of these companies on current situation of the carbon market.

JiaoZuo WanFang Aluminum Manufacturing Co., Ltd.

In the morning of 22 February, Helen visited JiaoZuo WanFang Aluminum Manufacturing Co., Ltd. and was warmly welcomed by Qiao Weidong, sales manager of the company and Zhang Zhanhong, sales director of the company. Mr. Qiao and Mr. Zhang exchanged opinions on the current demand and supply of anode with Helen. Mr. Qiao noted that the production expansion of electrolytic aluminum had given rise to the increase in anode supply, which promoted anode producers to equip new facilities to meet the production requirement of electrolytic aluminum by maintaining normal outputs. The starting dates of new facilities and electrolytic aluminum production would influence demand and supply of anode, and further affect anode prices in the Chinese market.

Jaozuo Yingli Economic & Trade Co., Ltd.

Later, Helen visited Jaozuo Yingli Economic & Trade Co., Ltd. and had discussed the current anode market with Yan Tao, vice president of the company and Feng Liuzhu, minister of supply department of the company. Mr. Feng indicated that the environmental protection inspections have been quite strict; but as their environmental protection equipments and emission all met the standard, they encountered little obstacles in producing anode. Mr. Feng also strengthened that they shut down a roaster in last August but began to build a new one with the expectation to complete and put into production in April. By then, their annual capacity will be increased to 150,000t from 120,000t. Mr. Feng also showed Helen around the prebaked anode producing workshop.

Jiaozuo Wandu Carbon Co., Ltd.

In the afternoon of 22 February, Helen visited Jiaozuo Wandu Carbon Co., Ltd. and exchanged views on anode production with Guo Haiou, assistant sales manager of the company. Mr. Guo talked about the anode outputs and production conditions in the Chinese market and simply discussed the newly constructed anode project with Helen.

Henan Runpeng New Material Co., Ltd.

Helen visit Guo Pengfei, general manager of Henan Runpeng New Material Co., Ltd. and discussed the company’s business simply. The company mainly deals with calcined pet coke and pet coke, having its own logistic team, and will consider getting involved in the anode trade if conditions allow.

Jiaozuo Hongpeng Carbon Co., Ltd.

Helen was given a warm welcome by Zhao Erwei, general manager assistant of Jiaozuo Hongpeng Carbon Co., Ltd. As a calcined pet coke producer, the company has an annual capacity of 50,000t and produces ordinary material S<3.0% now, mainly cooperating with traders.

Jin Ju Industrial Co., Ltd. Henan

In the afternoon of 23 February, Helen visited Jin Ju Industrial Co., Ltd. Henan and had a conversation with Ma Liang, sales director of the company. Mr. Ma revealed that the environmental protection press is quite heavy; the government required them to cut down by 50% of the outputs with the specific resumption date unclear. Mr. Ma further added that it is quite hard for them to maintain normal anode production based on the current situation, so they don’t have the thought of building new facilities in 2017. With an annual capacity of 200,000t of prebaked anode, the company mainly sells to Shandong and Henan.

Henan Zhongkai Carbon Co., Ltd.

Helen visited Henan Zhongkai Carbon Co., Ltd. and exchanged views with Gao Qikai, president of the company and Gao Sizhong, vice president of the company. President Gao pays great attention to the future market of anode and hopes Asian Metal to provide more information of the price trend of the material analyzed by supply-demand relationship. Vice president Gao noted that they can only maintain transactions with regular customers due to the severe environmental protection inspections, having on idea of developing new customers or setting up new facilities.

Gongyi Rongxin Carbon Products Co., Ltd.

Soon afterwards, Helen interview Zhang Aiguo, general manager of Gongyi Rongxin Carbon Products Co., Ltd. The company is a calcined pet coke producer with an annual capacity of 100,000t and mainly provides the material for Shanxi. Mr. Zhang revealed that they reduced by about 30% of outputs affected by the environmental protection inspections. And the Chinese calcined pet coke market saw tight supply and constantly rising prices as a result.

Henan Songyue Carbon Co., Ltd.

In 24 February, Helen visited Henan Songyue Carbon Co., Ltd. and was greeted by Xing Suwei, leader of procurement department. Mr. Xing claimed that the raw material of anode production, coal tar pitch, is in short supply and sees prices surging as the environmental protection inspections have imposed great influence on the production of coal tar. And given the intense environmental protection pressure moving along, prices for coal tar pitch would rise further in the future. With an annual capacity of 260,000t of prebaked anode, the company shut down in mid-December of last year but has resumed production for now, expecting to see normal production in March.
