Asian Metal visits Cosco Shipping, Galuminium Group, Kebo Energy
On March 8th, 2024, Mr. Friday Gao, the Chief Consultant of Asian Metal, visted Cosco Shipping Bulk Co., Galuminium Group Co., and Kebo Energy S.A. China Office, and were warmly greeted by the companies above.
On the morning of March 8, Mr. Friday Gao, visited Cosco Shipping Bulk Co., and met with Mr. Bing Zhou, the Executive Director of Operation Management Department, and Manager Mr. Qunshan Wang, together with Mr. Yebo Zhang, the Deputy Manager of Project Development Department and Manager Mr. Ziyuan Li, etc. Mr. Bing Zhou briefly introduced the current bauxite shipping market. Mr. Yebo Zhang noted that their bauxite shipping business from Guinea to China grew quickly over the past three years as the demand for barges and cape-size vessels strengthened. They are confident in the bauxite shipping market in the coming few years. Then Mr. Friday Gao introduced newly-planned bauxite projects in Africa including Guinea and Sierra Leone. Besides, he forecasted new demand for imported bauxite from China in the coming two years.
As a member of Asian Metal, Cosco Shipping has been referring to the bauxite information published by Asian Metal for many years. They would attend the 14th Aluminum Raw Materials Summit to be held on May 23-24 in Guangzhou.

On the afternoon of March 8, Mr. Friday Gao first visited Galuminium Group Co., and had a meeting with Ms. Yanan Wang, the Director of Research Department, and Analyst Mr. Chuwen Guo. Ms. Yanan Wang expressed that their alumina refinery once only consume Chinese-origin bauxite and they plan to choose imported bauxite as a backup this year in case of local bauxite supply shortage. Mr. Friday Gao analyzed the bauxite quality and prices from different countries. Besides, he introduced the current alumina market in China. Ms. Yanan Wang indicated that their team would attend the 14th Aluminum Raw Materials Summit to be held on May 23-24 in Guangzhou in order to secure more bauxite resources.

Later, Mr. Friday Gao visited Kebo Energy S.A. China Office and had a meeting with the Representative Mr. John Liao.
Mr. John Liao introduced that they received the bauxite mining license in May last year and plan to launch bauxite production in late 2024. Reserves for the 1st mining area could reach 550 million tonnes. The mining area is over 160km away to a barging port and they plan to build a railway in the future. Mr. Friday Gao analyzed the bauxite demand distribution in China and the current mainstream prices. Meanwhile, he introduced briefly about the bauxite supply from other major countries. Mr. John Liao would attend the 14th Aluminum Raw Materials Summit to be held on May 23-24 in Guangzhou and looks forward to meeting major end users.
