Industrial grade lithium carbonate price dips

BEIJING (Asian Metal) 15 May 13 – Though spodumen price is firm at about USD380/t, industrial grade lithium carbonate price dips because of weak demand from air conditioning, ceramics, glass industries. For the time being, industrial grade lithium carbonate price is about RMB40-41.5/kg (USD6.45-6.69/kg) and RMB37.5-39.5/kg (USD6.05-6.37/kg) for materials extracted from spodumene and brine, down by about RMB0.5/kg (USD0.08/kg) compared with that of early May.
A producer in Jiangsu, whose output of industrial grade is about 80-100tpm, reported to Asian Metal that they reduces industrial grade lithium carbonate a little to about RMB40/kg (USD6.45/kg), down by around RMB0.5/kg (USD0.08/kg) compared with that of half a month ago. According to the source who extracts lithium carbonate of industrial grade from spodumene, spodumene price keeps firm at about USD380/t, but demand from downstream industry is slow, which pulled down the price of industrial grade lithium carbonate.
Another producer in Qinghai, who is out of production at the moment, holding several hundred tons of materials in stock to sell in spot market, confirms that they reduce industrial grade lithium carbonate price to RMB37.5/kg (USD6.05/kg), down from RMB38/kg (USD6.13/kg) to attract orders.
The source produced 500-600tpm of industrial grade lithium carbonate before they stopped production. "Demand for industrial grade lithium carbonate decreases," said the source. Therefore, producers reduce lithium carbonate of industrial grade price slightly though lithium ore price keeps firm.
