Interview with Chen Zhenyu, General Manager of Ningxia Sun Magnesium Co., Ltd.
Dun’an Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 1987, owning a set of equipment manufacturing industrial, chemical industry, real estate development, the resources development industry, is a large-scale comprehensive modern enterprise group. There are more than 70 subordinate backbone enterprises.

Asian Metal: Nice to meet you, Mr. Chen. Thank you for accepting Asian Metal’s interview. How many years have you stayed in Dun’an Group Co., Ltd.?
Chen: It is 25 years that I stayed in Dun’an. I worked for Dun’an since it founded.
Asian Metal: Dun’an Group Co., Ltd. is a renowned enterprise. Could you please give us a brief introduction of your company?
Chen: Dun’an Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 1987, owning a set of equipment manufacturing industrial, chemical industry, real estate development, the resources development industry, is a large-scale comprehensive modern enterprise group. There are more than 70 subordinate backbone enterprises. Three magnesium metal circular economy industrial parks were built in Ningxia Taiyangshan, Alashan in Inner Mongolia Region, Hami in Xinjiang. Ningxia Sun Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd. is an important for Dun’an Group. Excellent sales and market snares have been made by Ningxia Sun Magnesium Co., Ltd. since 2010.
Inner Mongolia JinShi Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd., which started the construction with an annual capacity of 200,000 tons of high quality magnesium alloy circular economy industrial park, is expected to put into production in April 2013.
Xinjiang Jinsheng Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd., which started the construction with an annual capacity of 150,000 tons of magnesium alloy circular economy industrial park, is expected to put into production in July 2013.
Asian Metal: Dun’an Group is a promising star in magnesium industry, why devotes large amounts of money in magnesium industry?
Chen: First of all, magnesium industry has wide development space. It is a new metal, developing in the 20th century, which is a promising metal. In addition, the structural characteristics is similar to aluminum, and has good mechanical properties, it has all sorts of utility of the light metal. Dun’an Group valued magnesium market prospects, so make big strength investment in magnesium industry, promoting strengthening of magnesium industry.
Asian Metal: Dun’an Group is fresh blood in magnesium industry, facing a huge potential market, where is the advantage for three investment in magnesium industry?
Chen: Ningxia Sun Magnesium Industry is relying on advantage of dolomite, near to coal mine in Shenmu and Fugu, circular economy industry chain integration, at the same time, which also use the gas furnace production methods. Inner Mongolia JinShi Magnesium Industry is relying on rich coal resources and dolomite resource in Inner Mongolia region, and also use coking gas to produce magnesium. Xinjiang Jinsheng Magnesium Industry uses semi coke 's exhausts to develop magnesium.
Asian Metal: Magnesium, as a kind of new metal, how to realize the growth in the near future?
Chen: The application of magnesium is still relatively limited for the time being, which is used in the iron and steel desulfurization, aluminum and magnesium alloy die-casting. At present, the development of magnesium application mainly come from private enterprises, therefore, the development of magnesium industry still has a lot of work to do, it also needs each manufacturer cooperate to finish it. Dun’an Group established cooperation light alloy technology research and development centers with Shanghai Jiaotong University in February 2012. In addition, it also cooperates with Shaanxi Magnesium Industry Group and Xi’an University, etc. All of these are good to magnesium industry.
Asian Metal: How do you think about the magnesium market in the late of this year?
Chen: From the whole view, magnesium industry is a small one, manufacturers also dispersion, the output can be influenced easily, for example, many regions this year the semi-coke problems, overhaul equipment in summer, etc., are all affect output of magnesium and price state. Overall, magnesium market industry goes better than other industries, production decreased slightly, the market price is stable, which is good to the development of magnesium industry. In the late of this year, output of magnesium will in a relative stable state, and it will remain at RMB18,000/t ex works. In addition, it will decrease to RMB17,000/t ex works during Spring Festival.
