Business Visits

Asian Metal visits Wogen

Chi Hin Ling (Ferroalloys and Ores Analyst) and Scott Yarham (Minor Metals Analyst) from Asian Metal’s London office paid Wogen Resources a visit on 31st January 2014. Chi and Scott met with Nick Cartwright, trader at Wogen, to discuss the global antimony and chrome markets.
Chi and Nick discussed about the Turkish chrome ore market, agreeing that there is still plenty of opportunity in the industry, despite recent turbulences in the economy and the currency. Nick noted that, although business environment in Turkey is not ideal, he remains upbeat about the potential of Wogen’s business in Turkey and he remarked that Wogen will continue to grow and look for future opportunity in the Turkish metals and minerals markets.
Nick was interested to hear more about the World Antimony Forum in Spain during April. Nick explained that Alan Kerr, Director at Wogen, will be attending the conference but also mentioned that he would very much like to attend too. Scott discussed the list of speakers that are presenting in Madrid which Nick found very interesting due to the fact that they were covering topics that were not traditionally covered in these types of forums. Nick remarked that it has already been a very interesting start to the year as prices have appreciated rather unexpectedly, primarily brought about by a growing confidence within China and a slowdown in production. Nick added that the time of the conference, being just after Q1 2014, will be ideal to take stock of the happenings in the year thus far and analyse the potential trajectory of the market for the remainder of 2014.
Nick thanks Scott and Chi for the high standard of work they produce at Asian Metal, and the information sharing conversation they have on a regular basis. Nick said that he hope to make it out to Madrid for the Conference, as he believes it will be a fantastic opportunity to network with the markets key players, but also attend the presentations which add tremendous value to the trip.
