Asian Metal attends the opening ceremony of Talison's Greenbushes Lithium Operations plant expansion
On August 9-10, 2012, Joy Kong, associate analyst of Asian Metal participated in lithium concentrate production expansion ceremony of Talison Lithium Limited, located in Greenbushes.
Talison Lithium is a leading global producer of lithium and the headquarters are in Perth, Western Australia and the Company has over 140 employees located in Australia, Canada, Chile and China.
Talison Lithium currently produces lithium concentrate at its lithium mineral project in Western Australia located in the town of Greenbushes. The lithium orebody at Greenbushes is unique in that it contains large zones of high grade lithium ore. The lithium mineral ore body at Greenbushes is the highest grade in the world, at a grade of 3.1% Li2O. Lithium has been produced from the Greenbushes operations for over 25 years and Talison Lithium currently exports over 350,000 tonnes of lithium products annually to a global customer base.
Over 150 international and local guests and dignitaries including customers, shareholders and local community members attended the official opening ceremony at the Greenbushes Lithium Operations. Delegates of Chinese lithium salt enterprises include Mr. Jiang Weiping, chairman and general manager, Ms. Wu Wei, director of Sichuan Tianqi Lithium Industries, Inc, Mr. Li Liangbin, chairman and president, Mr. Wang Xiaoshen, vice chairman and vice president of Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium Co., Ltd., Mr. Zhang Fengxue of Hubei Baijierui New Materials Co., Ltd.etc..
Talison holds positive attitude towards the prospect of the world new energy market. They think that lithium will not only be used in mobile electronics such as iPads, but electric vehicles, grid stabilization batteries, and solar storage etc. Talison has reached another milestone and with it can produce over 700,000 tonnes of lithium concentrates per annum and most of which are chemical grade and sold to China. Meanwhile, the company also plans to produce lithium salt products in the future.
