OVERVIEW
Looking back at 2024, the world was still in a period of change and adjustment, with the slow global economy recovering, prominent geopolitical tensions, increasing international trade barriers and escalating potential financial risks. The global rare earth market suffered a lot of challenges and test in 2024. As the core of the global rare earth supply chain, China's rare earth separation and smelting capacities continued to expand, and the pace of structural adjustment within the industry was accelerating. NdFeB permanent magnet production capacity climbed rapidly, but the demand growth from new energy vehicles and other end markets failed to meet expectations. At the same time, catalyst, phosphor powder, glass, ceramics and other traditional downstream industries also confronted with dilemmas. In the international market, the sluggish economy led to a slowdown in the development of downstream industries such as new energy vehicles market, however, overseas rare earth producers expedited the production expansion and industrial layout of vertical supply chain, and many rare earth projects developed against all odds, both targeting at higher market share.
Looking ahead to 2025, how will Chinese rare earth prices fluctuate? How can China's rare earth separation and smelting enterprises innovate and seek changes to open up new development paths amid the complex and changing international situation? What opportunities and challenges lie ahead the overseas rare earth market? Can emerging rare earth miners make their mark on the global stage? Whether the new energy vehicle industry will witness rapid growth? Whether other rare earth downstream industries could find turnarounds?
With the first summit hosted by Asian Metal in 2011, the annual Rare Earth Summit has been witnessing strong support and active participation of around over 200 companies around the world. The Rare Earth Summit has been successfully held in Hangzhou, Ningbo, Chengdu, Nanning, Chongqing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Sanya, Qingdao of China and Pittsburgh as well as San Francisco of United States, ect. Cooperating through thick and thin for 16 years, we witnessed every up and down and changes in the rare earth industry! Let us reunite in the 16th Rare Earth Summit to be held on 15-16 May 2025 in Ningbo, Zhejiang, where owns the reputation of “Capital of East Asian Culture” and “Capital of Chinese Magnetic Materials”. Asian Metal invites industry elites from all over the world to exchange ideas, work together to draw a new blueprint for the rare earth industry and create a new chapter of win-win situation!
