OVERVIEW
★ China's dependence on imported bauxite continues to increase with booming alumina projects
New emerging or expanded alumina projects in Guangxi, Hebei and Shandong of China completely rely on imported bauxite. Chinese domestic bauxite supply remains limited, and thus China's dependence on imported bauxite reaches a record high level.
★ Guinean bauxite supply becomes unstable restricted by tax policy and logistics
Despite the expanding bauxite production capacity in Guinea, the bauxite supply becomes unstable due to the tax policy and slow logistics development. Bauxite from Australia, Ghana, Laos, India, Turkey and Malaysia, etc. become necessary options for Chinese buyers.
★ Oversupply faced by Chinese alumina, prebaked anode and aluminum fluoride producers due to primary aluminum license cap
Chinese domestic primary aluminum production capacity is difficult to increase due to the license restriction, but alumina, prebaked anode and aluminum fluoride production capacity expansions continue which leads to oversupply and forces Chinese manufacturers to develop overseas markets.
★ The alumina and aluminum development in India and Indonesia speeds up
Attributing to favorable policies and demand growth, the alumina and aluminum production capacity expands quickly in southeast Asian countries like India and Indonesia, which brings new opportunities and challenges for China.

SUMMIT IN 2024
The 14th Aluminum Raw Materials Summit organized by Asian Metal closed successfully on the afternoon of May 24, 2024. The Summit secured sponsorship from Ghana Bauxite Company Limited (GBC), Henan Zhengxin Win-Win Trade Co., Tianshan Aluminum Group Holdings Co., Xiamen Xiangyu Aluwin Co., and Chongqing Bosai Minerals Group Co.
A total of 12 speakers from various companies delivered excellent presentations in the summit, including Russian Aluminium Association, Sichuan Zhongfu Technology Development Co., Ghana Bauxite Company Limited (GBC), Guangxi GIG Industrial Chain Service Group Co., PT. Indonesia Asahan Aluminium, Guizhou Luxing Carbon New Materials Co., Beijing Capital Futures Co., PT Mining Industry Indonesia (MIND), Jiangsu Steamship Co., Henan Yili Imp & Exp Trade Co., Shenyang Aluminum and Magnesium Engineering & Research Institute Co. and Thyme Europe Limited.
The summit was attended by more than 400 delegates from 16 countries, including China, Australia, Guinea, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Indonesia, UAE, UK, Germany, France, Turkey, Vietnam and ROK.
